Dawn’s bright spirit was welcomed into the world on March 28th,1982 by her parents Nhon and Phuong Ong. Eldest of two daughters, Dawn was full of joy when Kathryn was born. Even though the sisters were eleven years apart, Kathryn became Dawn’s true love. Always providing for Kathryn what she herself did not have growing up. Dawn loved her family and had the strongest bond with her father. She was most definitely daddy’s little girl. Family was important to her and she treasured her trip to Viet Nam where she was able to meet her extended family in person. She was so grateful for the opportunity to connect with her roots.
Dawn attended Bailey Gatzert Elementary School where she met her first group of lifelong friends who still remain great friends today. Dawn prides herself of the longevity and loyalties of her relationships and holds this special group near and dear to her heart. She would often say to new comers, “Can you believe it? We’ve been friends since we were five mother fucking year’s old.” Reminding people how far back they went. Truly an amazing bond. She then went on to Franklin High school where she graduated class of 2000.
Though her modeling career was short lived, she grew into a tall, elegant, beautiful young woman with an unerring eye for haute couture. With her loud fashion and creative mind, she instilled her own style on to others by carefully selecting her words to uplift them by her suggestions, never putting one down. She had that comforting gift that would draw strangers in and within minutes they were friends for life.
When she discovered music festivals, oh boy, that was it. That was her jam! Loud music, loud fashion, nonstop dancing, and tons and tons of creative people just like her. Dawn met Nate at a music festival about 20 years back, and have never left each other’s side. With the exception of the first night. Dawn was not allowed to go home with a stranger on the first night - rules of her group. So Nate came and pick her up the next day. The couple bonded over their love for music, parties, and people. Falling head over heels in love with each other, they were later married. After marriage the party just got bigger. Old friends meet new friends and new friends meet old friends. Dawn was the life of the party. Always knowing how to work the crowd bringing people together from all walks of life. Dawn loved to get all dolled up and fancy to go out. She designed and custom made her own costumes to show up her unique and was always a hit. Her favorite place to party was out at the Gorge. In the middle of nature, loud music, loud crowd, just having fun with good peeps and her love Nate by her side.
Dawn worked hard and was a person who never saw a stranger; you were just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Her energy and smile made her a successful hospitality and Human Resources staffer. She was appreciated for both her hustle and her loyalty and her on-point customer service. She had the rare ability to listen as though you were the only person that mattered. She was definitely the go to person if you had a problem. Her creativity was not limited to fashion. Her attitude was “let’s figure out how we can make this work.”
Dawn loved everybody and tried to take on the weight of your pain if you were feeling down. To rejuvenate her spirt she relied on her husband, sister, family, and closes friends, sharing her heart in long conversations with them. Throughout her life she gave her love to all and wore her heart on her sleeve. Only a person like her can develop such true and meaningful friendships that run lifelong.
Her loving heart was stilled on April 8th, 2020.
She leaves behind a wide network of friends and family who will miss her always and know that the example she set of love and grace enriched their lives and they will all carry her in their hearts forever.
Please hold husband Nate and parents Nhon and Phuong Ong, and sister Kathryn in your hearts.
