David Warren Christianson was born on April 18, 1922 in Tacoma, Washington to Inez and Elmer Christianson. He served his country during WWII in Europe as part of the 97th Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also served in Korea in the 6th Infantry. Lieutenant Colonel David Christianson retired from the Army with honors in 1985.
David was preceeded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty Tredway. He is survived by his children: Catharine (Robert), Scott (Phyllis), William (Michelle), Carol (Jane) and Margo (Niccole). Grandchildren include: Leigh, Jesse (Heather), Katie (Marcus), Emily, Megan, Lindsay (Elliott), Izzy, Joe, Shane, Jarrod (Jennifer), and Aaron (Trisha). Great grandchildren include: Owen, Emmett, Kayla, Korey, Seth, Cassidy, Brody, Keana, and Kaden.
David was employed for 30 years with Westin Hotels where he worked as the comptroller of the Davenport and Olympic Hotels, and later as a program analyst and auditor.
He was a member of Kiwanis for 35+ years and an active member of the Seattle Wedgwood Presbyterian and Tacoma Mason United Methodist churches.
After Betty passed on, David returned to Tacoma and spent his final years in the company of his high school sweetheart, Virginia Greening Nisker and her children: Gary (Tracie), Kim (Walt), and Bruce. Their grandchildren include: Ashlyn, Kylee, Hans, Joe, Ross, and Lisa.
Dave and Ginny packed in a lot of fun times in their 16 years together--attending church, socializing with friends, bike riding, taking aerobics classes and traveling.
Mr. Christianson checked out on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 9:30 PM. He enjoyed his stay of 89 years and will be sorely missed.
Remembrances may be made to Boys' Town, Kiwanis or non-profit of your choice. Services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Mason United Methodist Church, Tacoma. Please bring a canned good for the food drive.
