Dale was born to Fred & Ethel Johnson who were farmers in Illinois. At 16 he hopped a freight train tied to the top by his belt so he could sleep at night and came to the Seattle area. It was there he joined the Army. In 1945 he married Eleanore Hostak of Georgetown. He served the United States during WWII and later enlisted in the Air Force where he remained 23 years raising his 5 kids, mainly in the Seattle area. He retired from the Air Force in 1959 and went on to work for many years as the warehouse operations manager at the Washington State Liquor Control Board. Eleanore passed on in 1998. Dale then spent his time enjoying his family, watching his 6 grandchildren grow. In his remaining years he had a close & special relationship with his 4 little great grandchildren. During the last 4 years Dale lived independently at the Stafford Suites for seniors. As always, he is remembered for being a kind, polite & friendly man who was loved by all who met him.
