Constance Julia Klaras Abrahamson peacefully died at her Seattle residence the morning of June 26, 2019, age 84. She was born on March 5, 1935 to Andrew and “Dee” (Hazel DeVolla Neel) Klaras in St. James, Minnesota.
Connie and her mother moved to Madelia, Minnesota, to live with Charles (Glenn) and Julia Neel, maternal grandparents of Connie, after her father died of a hunting accident in 1936. She remained in her grandparents care throughout her childhood. The three of them moved to Kirkland, Washington in 1943. Connie’s beloved piano came with them.
Dee, her mother, had remarried John McClellan and then resided in Miles City, Montana and San Francisco, California. Connie spent her school breaks with them and enjoyed the cultural experiences of both locations. Throughout her childhood, Connie’s mother and grandparents encouraged her love of art and music.
While attending the University of Washington to study music, Connie met her husband, Noel LaVerne Abrahamson, as he worked on his Master’s Degree in Music. Connie joined Noel in membership at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church. They married there on December 21, 1956 and established residence in Seattle, Washington. Connie led children’s music for Sunday school and engaged in work for a preschool.
Connie’s greatest love was for her husband. She was devoted in supporting him and all his music and life endeavors. Often she would accompany him while touring with choirs or bands and at PLU concerts. Following a tragic miscarriage early in their marriage, she found great comfort in the security he provided her.
Another passion Connie had was for her beloved children and grandchildren. She always desired their presence, enjoyed planning fun adventures and activities for them, and delighted in engaging all forms of conversations with them. She immersed herself in daily thoughts of them and loved them fully.
She is survived by daughter Jan and grandchildren Andrew and Nathan Liscom of Lincoln, NE; son Aaron and wife Jennie of Seattle, Washington; daughter Jenna, of Manhattan Beach, California; and son Darryl, wife Nicole and grandchildren Marlo and Charley of Johnstown, Colorado. Preceding her in death is her beloved husband, Noel Abrahamson; parents, Andrew Klaras and Dee Klaras McClellan; grandparents, Charles and Julia Neel; and stepfather John McClellan.
