Clinton W. Thees, fondly known as Bud, died June 3rd in Lynnwood, WA after suffering a severe stroke on May 18, 2015. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT April 29, 1928. His family moved to Seattle, where he attended Roosevelt High School, and met his future wife, Joan Jaquet, before he graduated. Bud joined the Coast Guard, and after serving his country, returned to marry his 'beautiful bride' Joan, on June 30, 1951. Their 64th wedding anniversary would have been this month.
Bud was a dedicated and loving father, instilling a love of adventure and nature in both his sons, with his involvement in their Boy Scout troops' many hikes, family camping trips, and teaching them to snow ski, water ski, golf, and helping to coach baseball. Bud was also an experienced sailor, and enjoyed many memorable vacations boating through the San Juan Islands, and even navigated the Caribbean with Joan on a special sailing trip. He spent many years as a Project Superintendent at Sellen Construction, and after retirement, became a master carver. He will always be remembered for his quick, dry sense of humor, and his lively 'side commentary' is already missed. His loving commitment to caring for his 'beautiful bride' Joan, and their special daily drives, will be remembered and cherished by all of his family and friends.
Bud is survived by his wife Joan, and his two sons and their families; Paul & Judy, grandchildren Kyle and Megan, and Bruce & Sue, grandchildren Kelly and Monique, his brother Bob, his sister Lee, and many family and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom, and his sister Lynn.
A Remembrance and Celebration of Bud's life will be held July 12, 2-4:00 pm, at Chateau Pacific Retirement Home, 3333 148th S.W., Lynnwood, WA 98087. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests donations are made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish, Alzheimer's Association, or Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
