Claudia Ellen Lazik was born to Edward George Thompson and Martha Mary Thompson on July 6, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. Mom grew up in Alderwood Manor and graduated from Edmonds High School. We have been told she was a happy, sensitive child who loved animals. She was close to her siblings, Pat, Jack, Sue, and Mike, which allowed us lifetime friendships with our cousins.
Mom met our dad, Gary Stephen Lazik, Sr. (1941-2005) when she was 18 and he was 19. They fell in love immediately and married only 3 months later. By the time mom was 21, they had four children. She was a stay-at-home mom up until we were all in High School. We have fond memories growing up in Lake City and Lake Forest Park. Our parents were very much in love during the 44 years they were married, up until our dad’s death. She missed him immeasurably, as we do, these past twelve years. The loss of our mother is devastating.
Mom was dedicated to her family. She was kind, exceptionally generous, feisty, smart as a whip, very organized, and so much more. She was good with numbers and was interested in the stock market. She loved to check books out at the Lake Forest Park Library and have meals with her children and grandchildren in Edmonds, where she had lived the last 13 years. We all had many a meal at Claire’s Restaurant with her. She last worked at Pemco Insurance (retired) as an Underwriter.
Mom was a loving grandmother and was protective of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Our much loved mother passed away less than three weeks after a recent cancer diagnosis on November 10, 2017. She was cared for by her family and died at the home of one of her children. She left us knowing how loved she was by all.
Claudia is preceded in death by her father, Edward Thompson 1989; husband, Gary Lazik Sr. 2005; her brother in-law, Art Cameron 2014; and her mother, Martha Thompson 2015.
Mom is survived by her children: Mary Allen (Jerry), Casey Lazik (Nydia), DeeDee Lazik, and Bud Lazik. Her grandchildren: Tony (Katie), Zach, Julie, Nicolas, Cristian, Jessica, Casey, Nydita; and her four great grandchildren: Alexis, Kayson, Luca and Michael Anthony.
Mom also leaves behind her siblings: Patty Cameron (Art - RIP), Jack Thompson (Irene), Susie Linville (Othel), and Mike Thompson. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. All were loved my mom.
