Cecil O. Hansel April 21, 1934 - February 20, 2014. Cecil Oscar Hansel was born in New England, North Dakota on April 21, 1934, to Pete and Mary Hansel. He graduated from Larimore High School, where he played football, baseball, basketball and track. This is where he met the love of his life, Janice Morstad. After high school, Cecil was offered a scholarship to play football, but decided instead to enlist in the Army and went to Korea for two years. After leaving the military, he attended NDSU and married Janice on January 21, 1956.They moved to Spokane, where Cecil worked at Ideal Concrete Company. In 1963, the family moved to Seattle, where he worked and retired after 30 years as Chief of Photogrammetry, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Cecil was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Cecil will be remembered by many for years spent coaching football, basketball and baseball. He loved taking road trips with his wife, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, enjoyed family reunions at Deer Lake in Spokane, and his latest pastime, camping and fishing at Lake Trask with his dog Sadie. He will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his wife Janice, brother-in-law Richard, and his parents. He is survived by his sons, Jeff, Greg (Denise), Mark, David (Diana), and his daughter, Mary Jo Dunlap (Brian), his brothers Larry (Leah), Royal, his sisters Joan Hanson and Suzanne Green (Greg), his grandchildren Christina (Jonathan), Tom, Drew and Drake, four great-grandchildren, and wonderful nephews and nieces.
