Carole attended T.T. Minor Elementary, Meany Junior High School, and graduated from Garfield High School in 1956. Carole attended Fisk University in Autumn of 1956 and completed two years there. After two years at Fisk, she returned to Seattle and lived with her parents -- Mr. Millard L. Mitchell and Mrs. Rose Mitchell -- at 114 21st Ave. E in the Central District. Carole met Collin M. Williams through a friend. Carole and Collin fell in love, married in 1959, and raised a family.
Carole returned to college at Seattle Pacific University in 1968. She graduated in 1970 with a degree in Education, even though her first major was psychology. Carole taught elementary students for several years at T.T. Minor Elementary School, and later at Leschi Elementary School. While teaching at Leschi Elementary, Carole attended night courses at Seattle Pacific University to obtain her Master's degree and Administration Credentials. In 1975, Carole graduated from Seattle Pacific University with her Master's Degree and Administrative Credentials. She then became Vice Principal of Leschi Elementary School.
Carole was very successful at working with children and staff. In 1987, She was promoted to principal of B.F. Day Elementary School where she earned the distinguished Golden Apple Award in 1994 as Principal of the year for the state of Washington.
Carole's characteristics were friendly, sociable, caring, supportive, empathetic, diligent, and loving. She read tons of novels, particularly romance. Carole almost never lost at Scrabble. Carole loved to travel. She actually traveled to Kenya for a three week Safari in the Serengeti the summer of 1997. Since her husband Collin was born in Belize, Central America Carole and her family traveled to Belize often. Carole and the family traveled to Maui, Hawaii frequently too. Almost every Spring and Summer during school breaks, Carole and the family traveled to visit her brother Richard (Dickie) Mitchell's family in Fresno, CA. Then drive farther south to Los Angeles to visit Collin's sister Dorothy Bell's family. Disneyland and swimming at different ocean beaches happened like clockwork every Spring and Summer from 1969 - 1979.
Carole was preceded in death by Dr. Collin M. Williams her husband of 48 years of marriage. Carole is survived by Collin Jr (Lin), son; Teresa Williams, daughter; Myra White and Shara White, grand-daughters; Patricia Williams, daughter-in-law; brother-in-law Noel Williams; Sisters-in-laws; nephews and nieces of the Mitchell family and Williams family. All love Carole and all miss Carole deeply.
