Born in 1939, Carol grew up in the post-WWII era of the '50s. She would soon marry her high school sweetheart Raymond Sotkiewicz shortly after graduating Central Catholic High School in 1957.
Carol loved to travel. She was an expert gardener and accomplished artist. Her accomplishments include creating her own line of hybridized African Violets. Carol won numerous Queen of Show awards in various African Violet contest shows around Ohio and Michigan. She was also a judge for the African Violet Society of America. Later she would learn the art of Quilling and was invited to the Ohio Governer's mansion and the White House to showcase her award-winning artwork. Carol would soon go on to start her own flower business in Point Place, Ohio.
She was the mother of three beautiful children; Susan, Linda and Scott. Although Susan and Linda passed at a very early age, Ray went on to become successful in life and she was very proud of him.
Carol enjoyed trips along the Eastern seaboard to Bar Harbor, Maine with her lifelong companion and husband Ray, staying at various cottages along the way. They both enjoyed nature and the grandeur of the Atlantic Coast. Carol was a bit of a gypsy and loved traveling and discovering new places and experiences.
Carol and Ray enjoyed touring coastal lighthouses and the history behind them in their journeys.
After her husband's passing in January 2009, Carol eventually moved to Seattle Washington to be with her son Scott and his wife Andrea. She thoroughly enjoyed all that the Pacific Northwest had to offer. For Carol, it felt like home away from home.
She enjoyed being close to her son and his family and in her later years was able to enjoy a few holidays before moving on to the final chapter in life.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother Lottie and father Frank Balazs, her beloved husband Ray, and her children Susan and Linda.
Carol and her husband Ray's ashes will be scattered along the Olympic coastline in Washington State.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-Washelli.com for the Sotkiewicz family.
