Carol Joan Kurth

Carol, our beloved mother & grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home amongst family and friends after a long courageous battle with multiple illnesses. She was born November 19, 1939 in Grand Junction, CO. to Wayne and Maurine Stidham. She subsequently moved with her family from Colorado to Portland, OR. Carol graduated from Parkrose High School in 1957 and Providence Nursing School in 1960. She worked as a nurse in Portland, OR. and Santa Monica, CA. until 1965. On January 23, 1965 she married our beloved father James Edwin Kurth, who was the brother of her nursing school roommate, Sandra Meienberg (Kurth). With the marriage she became a mother to James Gerard Kurth. Carol is survived by her 6 children, James, Gretchen Kurth (KW), Greg Kurth, Garrison Kurth (Carolyn), Eileen Kurth, Carolyn Bustamante (Blas) and her 8 grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Josh, Brett, Jason, Ashley, Taylor and Olivia. She also is survived by her brother Bob Dunn (Kathy) and her niece Bette. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her younger sister Judy, her parents and her stepfather Hank Dunn. Carol enjoyed reading, crafts, collecting colorful bears, traveling, celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Viewing will be 11am to 3pm, Saturday - October 29 at Yarington’s in White Center followed by a 3pm rosary. The funeral is at St. Francis of Assisi in Burien/Seahurst on Monday - October 31st at 10:30am. Remembrances in Carol’s honor can be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or Toys for Tots.
