Bryon Jay Sherman, age 82, passed away June 30th at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Byron, known as “Jay” to friends and family, was born and raised in Arco, Idaho. He attended Arco Elementary, Butte County High School, and then graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering. He spent his career at Boeing, retiring after 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Viola Sherman, and his first wife, Karen Taylor Sherman. He is survived by his wife Sue; his children Carrie Giddings and Taylor Sherman; stepchildren Christine Mueller and David Hatfield; five grandsons: Charlie, Kaden, Spencer, Logan and Everett; and his siblings: Dean Sherman, Viola Jean Ottowa and Ida Oberlies.
Jay will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. A loyal family man, his strength and wisdom will be a source of comfort as we remember his belief, “Everything will be okay.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Fred Hutch Cancer Center or the National Audubon Society.
Jay’s celebration of life will be Saturday, September 30th at Hope Lutheran Church, 1-2pm (address 4456 42nd Ave SW, Seattle WA). A reception will follow immediately at West Seattle Golf Course, 2:30-4pm, (4470 35th Ave SW).
