Bonnie was born March 13, 1940 in Council, ID and grew up in Newport, WA where she was first in her high school class and valedictorian. She went on to pursue a Home Economics degree from Eastern Washington and then a teaching certificate from the University of Washington. Out of school Bonnie taught Home Economics at a Seattle high school. She transitioned into motherhood in 1968 with the arrival of Rick and then Doug closely there after.
Once her boys were a bit older, Bonnie returned to work at Immigration Services for 10 years and then moved on to the US Attorney’s office collecting bad debt for the government for 29 years. She retired in 2006 right after her granddaughter, Elise, was born. She spent the next five years as a babysitting grandma and spending time outdoors with her best friend and partner, John Steinbauer.
Bonnie was a kind and caring person with a giving heart. She helped numerous people in her life and welcomed anyone who needed a hand up and a supportive smile to her dinner table. She was passionate about painting, gardening, dancing, and being engaged in her church community. Her exquisite dahlias won awards and she was masterful at creating beautiful flower arrangements for her church.
Bonnie’s spunk, kindness, advocacy, and love touched so many in her lifetime. She will be sorely missed.
