Bertha is survived by her daughters Bev Holstad, Dianne Rehberg, Sandi Severtsen, son-in-law Stan Severtsen, grandkids Alexa Severtsen, Chris Severtsen (wife Lisa), and two darling great grandsons Troy and Sawyer.
She was preceded in death by father John, and mother Louise Mittelstedt, husband Fred Hale, ex-husband Otto Rehberg, sisters Pauline, Ella, Lenora, Berniece, and brothers Edwin, Ted, Tobias and Bill. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews in North Dakota and Oregon. Bertha still has several friends that she was close to including Marge Thompson and Laurie Christomos.
Bertha loved all her family. Being with them brought her much joy. She was a single parent taking on the task of bringing up 3 young daughters. Bertha took on the role of being an extraordinary mom, always showing strength and a can-do attitude that was passed down to her daughters. After retiring from Seattle Housing Authority, she was able to share her passion of playing bingo with Dianne and niece Phyllis. There was nothing better than yelling BINGO no matter if the prize was small or large. Bertha also liked to do cross stitch and made us numerous tablecloths and the best apple pies ever. She loved visiting relatives in North Dakota, fishing trips with Fred, gambling in Reno, NV with Bev and Dianne, and holidays at Sandi and Stan’s.
Bertha never learned to drive. She walked all over the place and passed this down to her girls and grandchildren. Bertha loved to dance and sing.
We love you, mom.
