Benjamin A. Gines passed on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
He is survived by his doting wife, Irma, his loving children, Ronaldo, Rhandy, Romina and Racelle; his seven grandchildren, Francesca, Juliana, Madalena, Laleh, Calla, Kasper and Milo; his son-in-law, Morten, and his daughter-in-law, Alice. His eldest son, Rolex, passed away in October, 1996. Ben has a big extended family in the Philippines whom he visited in 2019.
Ben was born and raised in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Manuel Luis Quezon University. He passed the board examination for Certified Public Accountant two years later. He held prominent positions in two big companies in Manila, Philippines before immigrating with his family to the United States in 1978.
He spoke with great pride and joy of his 5 children who are highly successful in their chosen field and of his beautiful grandchildren whom he had the opportunity to watch grow up.
Ben and Irma celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March, 2023.
Ben retired from the University of Washington on June 30, 2006 after 28 years as a senior accountant. During his retirement, he enjoyed taking walks in the mall with Irma and friends, relaxing at home and having lunch with friends. Ben enjoyed watching most sports on tv: basketball and boxing were his favorites.
Some of his favorite foods were crab and pinakbet. He enjoyed singing karaoke to Celine Dion, Frank Sinatra and Rico Puno songs.
Ben will be remembered for his dedication to his family and providing for them.
