Arlelia Octavia Nevels (Teeny) was born on March 23, 1935, in Seattle, Washington, to the union of Grant Henry Nevels, Sr. and Dorthulu Octavia Nevels. She was the third of five children. On April 7th, 2023, Teeny transitioned from this life, peacefully as she slept.
Teeny grew up in the Columbia City area of Seattle, with her only brother, Grant Henry, sisters, Bernice Audry, Dora E, and Edna M. Nevels. Teeny married Frederick L. Robinson, Jr. and to that union were born Frederick L. Robinson, III, Gwen E. Robinson, Sheryl J. Robinson, and Michael L. Robinson, Sr.
Teeny worked as a secretary at Boeing, Grandma’s Cookies, Ford Motor Company, Consolidated Freight Lines, and other companies in Seattle. She loved education and, once her four children were raised, studied at Seattle Community College. Teeny was proud of being an athlete! In her 40’s and 50’s she ran up to 3.5 miles a day. Later, in her 60’s and throughout the remainder of her life, Teeny enjoyed walking, light weightlifting and calisthenics in order to stay active.
She was preceded in death by: Grant Nevels (older brother), Burnice Ballard (older sister), Fredrick L Robinson, III (son), Fredrick L. Robinson, IV (grandson), Johnny Smith (Dora's husband) and Kathy Smith (niece).
Arlelia leaves to cherish fond memories: daughters, Gwen Robinson and Sheryl Robinson; one son, Michael (Joan) Robinson; grandchildren, Michael L. Robinson II, Daniel L. Robinson, Ericka E. Robinson, Jalen Jackson, Jordan Matheson-Jackson; Step-grandson, Jerrold Jackson; daughter-in-law, Diana; Sisters, Dora (John) Smith, Edna (Tony) Softli; and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews and so many other family and friends.
