Ardella Jean Martinson went to heaven on August 30th, 2022, in her home with her family by her side after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ardella was born November 2, 1936, in Goodrich, ND to JC (John) and Martha Waltz. Ardella grew up as a ‘farm girl’ which laid the foundation for her morals and work ethic. Ardella was the youngest of four wonderful sisters: Norma, Almora, and Norlene. The ‘Waltz Girls’ truly had a special bond full of love, class, and a little bit of sass.
Ardella graduated from Bismarck high school after attending school in Goodrich for 11 years. After high school, she followed in her sister Almora’s footsteps and went to work at the State Auditor’s office where her excellent typing skills were used. Throughout the rest of her career years, her secretarial skills would be used in many school districts.
After seeing a photo of E.W. ‘Marty’ Martinson and purchasing a pair of shoes for her niece Debbie from him, Marty and Ardella went on a double date. On October 5th, 1958, they were wed. That same year, Marty graduated from college and entered the management trainee program for the J.C. Penney company which would eventually transfer them to many stores on the Western part of the United States. Ardella and Marty shared a special love for one another that will transcend their time together here on earth. On July 22, 1959, they welcomed their first and only child, Lori Lee Martinson who was the apple of their eyes.
Ardella had many passions but the most important to her was her relationship and love of Jesus Christ. A close second was the love of her family specifically her kids; Lori and Bruce (son in law) and her grandchildren; Carlina and Ross. Ardella also loved the relationships she formed through Bible Study Fellowship and was delighted when BSF was brought to her beloved church, St. Luke’s in Federal Way. She enjoyed hiking, shopping with her daughter and granddaughter, playing her piano, and gardening.
Ardella is survived by her husband; Marty Martinson, sister; Almora Borner, grandchildren; Carlina Morris (Chris Stahnke), and Ross Simons.
