Ann Annie P. Maras

Ann "Annie" Maras, 89, of Edmonds, Washington passed away on Thursday, May 12, at Swedish Hospital, Edmonds, Washington. She was born on December 2, 1921 in Eveleth, Minnesota, to Matthew and Johanna (Adamic) Pauchnik . She graduated from Eveleth High School in 1939 and soon thereafter went to work in Racine, Wisconsin. She later returned to the Iron Range, working in both Eveleth and Virginia. In 1949 she married Michael Maras of Hibbing, Minnesota, and they made their home in Hibbing, Minnesota, Wahpeton, North Dakota, and eventually settling in Long Beach, California, where they started a business together. Ann also worked for Rockwell, International, an Aerospace company, until her retirement in 1984. In later years she lived with her sister, Molly, in LaVerne, California, Claremont, California and finally at Sunrise Assisted Living in Edmonds, Washington.

Annie loved people and people loved Annie! She also loved music and played the guitar, mandolin, banjo, and harmonica over the years. She brought joy to many with her wonderful harmonica playing--everyone will surely miss her bright smile and sweet spirit!

She is survived by her beloved sister, Molly Drobnick as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; three brothers, Matthew, Stanley, and Max; and a sister, Jean DeLangis.

A celebration of life service, to honor Annie, will be held at Sunrise Assisted Living in Edmonds, Washington on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. A graveside service with inurnment will be held on June 6, 2011 at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, California.
