Ahijah always had a passion for helping others. This started at Camp Easter Seals working with children and adults with disabilities. He then spent a few years caring for his brother Jeb before he started working with the homeless at the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). While Ahijah was there he got his nursing degree and became a CNA. After he left DESC, Ahijah decided to care for dementia patients and the elderly at Aegis Care Home. In 2018 he left Aegis to take care of Nancy full time.
Ahijah loved road trips and would just jump in the car with no end destination in mind.
He was an avid LEGO collector and was always looking for interesting sets to add to his collection.
Ahijah loved DVDs! While everyone in the world had been converting to new digital formats, he stayed old school and amassed a major collection. He was especially fond of the entire Marvel Universe.
After a 10 year courtship, Ahijah married the love of his life Nancy Cerruti on August 20, 2016 at their favorite park in Kenmore, Wa.
Ahijah is preceded in death by his wife Nancy and mother Aida.
Ahijah is survived by his grandfather Dr. Robert Whissiel, father David Whissiel, father-in-law Libero Cerruti, sister Vashti (Keith) Whissiel-Wren, brother Friend (Mary) Whissiel, mom Dini Rice, sisters Niyama (Johnny) Pavleas, Minda (Dave) Pavleas, Mariah (Mike) Pavleas, and brother Jeb Pavleas, nieces Marley and Monroe, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and family.
