He was born on August 2, 1935 in Barrigada, Guam to Vicente M. Mafnas (Tendo) and Ana Aguon Mafnas (Ungkulo). Domingo was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and a supportive and kind person. He enjoyed life to the fullest with singing, dancing, and telling jokes.
Domingo is survived by his darling wife, Josephine.

Great grandchildren – Lyndsi, Andy Mafnas, Gavin, Andy Wilson, Kelli, Kara, Liesel , Olivia, and Alexis.

Domingo enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17 years old. Due to his young age, Domingo required permission from his parents to enter the service. They were profoundly honored to allow their youngest child to serve his country. He served for over 20 years before retiring as a Sergeant First Class in January 1973 at Fort Ord, California. His military career took him to multiple locations stateside (Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Riley, Kansas; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; and Fort Ord, California) and overseas (Furth Nuremburg, Germany; South Korea; and Vietnam).
He began his career as a civilian employee in 1973 with Silas B. Hayes Army Hospital, Fort Ord, California. Domingo held various positions throughout his career with the hospital and received numerous performance and special act awards in recognition for his contributions, hard work, and dedication. Domingo retired from civil service after 21 years in 1994, the same year Fort Ord officially closed.
Domingo attended night classes at Hartnell College in Salinas, California where he received an Associates of Arts Degree in 1975. He enjoyed taking family trips, playing golf, bowling, fishing, dancing and singing, and telling Dad jokes. Domingo was a member of Saint Jude’s Parish and proudly served as a 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Domingo’s services are as follows: the viewing will be held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm (with the praying of the rosary at 1:00 pm) at Bayside Community Mortuary in Seaside, California on Wednesday, September 4th. Mass will be held at 9:00 am at Saint Jude Catholic Church in Marina, California on Thursday, September 5th followed by the burial at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside at 11:00 am. Domingo’s celebration of life will be at St. Jude’s Parish Hall at 12:30 pm.
