WILLIAM CLAY RHYNE, of Forney, TX, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving husband, father, ‘Papa Willie’, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on October 7, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Clayton Buell Rhyne & Mary Grace (Matina) Rhyne.
Willie grew up in Corpus Christi, graduated from Richard King High School in 1973, then moved to Houston in 1974 where he married his beautiful wife, Susan L. Rogillio, in 1975. He worked there as a truck driver and heavy equipment mechanic until 1986 then relocated to Mesquite to work for the City of Dallas. In 1995, he went to work for Dallas Fire Rescue until he retired in 2015. He then worked at Barco Pump in Wylie from 2016-2022.
Willie loved the Word of God, his family, his dogs, his Country, all things cars and Jeeps, music, the water, fishing, playing golf, smoking meats, wood-working, taking care of his lawn, sitting on the patio regardless of the weather, keeping up with his family’s whereabouts on Life360, caring for the ducklings and purple martins that he invited to visit each year, and helping whenever he could whether it be through cooking for the family, car or house repairs, or sending random “I Love You” gifts. He impacted many lives through driving the church bus to camps for many years and founding RightLine Off-Road Ministry. He was a man of principle and stood firmly on what he believed. He was witty, loved to make everyone laugh, and could give the biggest hugs you didn’t know you needed.
Willie is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Susan Rogillio Rhyne; children, Shawna & Kip Bush, and Waylon & Christie Rhyne; cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn Rhyne, Jaxon Rhyne, Mandi Mills, Mason Mills, Kylie Schoonover, Ava Schoonover, and Jackson Schoonover; brothers, Robert Rhyne (Pat), Mike Rhyne, Tom Rhyne, and James Rhyne (Ann); mother-in-law, Josephine Ramsey Rogillio; in-laws, Tony & Laurette Rogillio, Judy & Lynn Mayes, Bettye & Tim Boyd, Martha & Frank Putnam, and Gerald Rogillio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay & Grace Rhyne, father-in-law, James A. Rogillio, and brother-in-law, John Patrick Rogillio.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, at the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel in Seagoville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at Community Life Church, “c|Life”, in Forney with a reception to follow.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, gifts, food, and love during this time. We are also grateful for the staff of CC Young Senior Living in Dallas who took exceptional care of all of us while he was there, especially “Mr. G” and Linda Melekwe who were always at his bedside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawn-funerals.com for the Rhyne family.
