He was born on June 5, 1947, in Ada, Oklahoma to William and Alice Johnston. Tommy was raised in Stonewall, Oklahoma, and graduated from Del City - East Field in June of 1965. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War for two years. He married Vickie Johnson in 2003 and the couple had no children. He was a Technician at Southwestern Bell.
In his spare time, Tommy enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going to the American Legion, watching golf, growing his garden, mowing his yard, and camping.
His family and friends will always remember him as a person of kindness who was loving, honest, and genuine, someone who gave great advice - and yes, in his older age, a little grumpy.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Johnston, his father, William Johnston, his mother, Alice Johnston, and both sets of grandparents.
His is survived by his wife, Vickie Johnston; his children, Tami (Barry) Wagner, Matt (Stacie) Johnston, Amy (Chris) Shaw; his step-children, Larry (Gencie) Watson and Christie (Luis) Hernandez; his grandchildren, Kendall (Patrick) Pasciucco, Kade (Jenn) Wagner, Kolt Wagner, Taylor Johnston, Collin Johnston, Gavin (Summer) Horton, Parker Shaw, and Chandler Shaw; his step-grandchildren, Ray Hernandez, Sadie Hernandez, and Sheila Watson; his great-grandchildren, Brilan Johnston, Kayson Johnston, and Brynlie Johnston; numerous nieces and nephews; his brother, Tanner (Lorice) Johnston from Ada, OK; his sister, Judy (Richard) Dull from Winter Park, FL; and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Johnston from OK.
Tommy enjoyed being a member at American Legion Post 165. He also joined Masonry in 1987.
