Kenneth Carter

Ken grew up in Malakoff, Texas with his 5 siblings where he attended school. He graduated from Malakoff High school in 1957 where he played both football and basketball, averaging 32 points a game. Received a scholarship from Henderson County Junior College. During his time in high school, he was blessed to meet Molly Jane Williams. They would be high school sweethearts, destined to get married on December 8, 1957

Kenneth went on after high school to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone. He started as a cable splicer and worked his way up to a First Line Manager and quickly became a Second Line Manager. While with the company he invented a new massively cost-saving splicing method for the parent company AT&T titled the "Popping" Method. He worked for the company for 34 years before he retired in 1991.

Ken also acted as Mayor of Seagoville from 1973 to 1981. He was also a member of the Seagoville Chamber of Commerce, A member of the Lions club, and a charter member of the Senior Citizen Housing committee. He started the Seagoville Sports Association with Tody Bearden and continued to work with them for many years. He was honored to have his name included on plaques both at Seagoville City Hall and the Seagoville Central Park. He also served on the Charter Review Board and helped get the new city hall built.

He was a member of the Seagoville Masonic Lodge #654 where was initiated on 7/17/75, he graduated to Fellowcraft on 8/28/75, was Raised Toaster Mason 9/25/75, and committed 47 years of service with the organization. As a Mason, Ken is entitled to a Mason graveside service.

In his free time, Kenneth loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hunting, fishing, ranching, and raising cattle, chickens, and game roosters. Every year he could be found raising his vegetable garden and harvesting its fruitful yield. Every year he and his wife Molly would donate turkeys to the community food pantry for Thanksgiving at Robinwood Baptist Church where they were longtime members.

Kenneth is survived by his son Lamar Carter and wife Bette Jo Carter; his son Vance Carter and wife Cathie Carter; his sister Sandra "Patty" Emerine and husband D.C Emerine; his granddaughter Rachel Trevino, his grandson Brandon Carter and wife Megan Carter, his granddaughter Cassie Brown and husband Mike Brown, his granddaughter Lindsay Garrett and husband Rick Garrett, his grandson Tyler Carter, his granddaughter Shelby Moore, his great-granddaughter Callie Flores, his great-granddaughter Dalyce Brown, his great-granddaughter Josephine "JoJo" Carter, his great-granddaughter Audrey Carter, his great-grandson Aiden Trevino, his great-grandson Dylan Trevino, his great-grandson Mason Trevino, his great-grandson Peyton Warren, his great-grandson Greyson Warren, his great-granddaughter Lydia Warren and his great-granddaughter Dakota Mae Garrett. Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Molly Carter; his daughter, Dana Lynn Moore; his parents, Jack and Alma Carter; his brothers Robert and Eugene Carter, and his sisters Ludie McFarland and Edna Carter.

Kenneth also left behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kenneth's memory may be made to Robinwood Baptist Church Food Pantry.

A visitation for Kenneth will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Seagoville, 108 E Farmers Rd, Seagoville, TX 75159. A committal service will occur Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
