He was born on April 11, 1945 in Blue Town, Texas to Jose Muñoz and María Elena Reséndez. Juan was raised in La Feria, Texas. He married Catalina and the couple had three children. He was a retired truck driver, but he still continued to work on his Ranch even after retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his accordion, watching Western movies, and working on his Ranch. His family and friends will always remember him as a great musician, and, more specifically, an amazing accordion player; as well as for him being a grumpy old man.
He is survived by his wife, Catalina Muñoz, sons, Nemorio Vega and Alvaro Vega, daughter María Elena Muñoz, grandchildren, Nancy, Alvaro Jr., Jasmine, Araceli, Alexis, and Ivancin, and siblings, Roberto Muñoz, Guadalupe Muñoz, Joe Muñoz, Yolanda Muñoz and Jessie Muñoz.
