Erica Lopez was a woman whose life radiated love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Born on March 25, 1986, in Temple, Texas, and raised in Kaufman, Erica embodied the essence of grace, resilience, and warmth. Though her time with us was far too brief, she touched countless lives and left a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Erica was the heart and soul of her family. Raised with her three siblings in Kaufman, she was a woman who believed in the power of family, faith, and perseverance. Baptized and confimed at St. Ann's Catholic Church on North Washington Street, Erica's deep-rooted faith guided her through life. She attended Kaufman High School, where she began to forge the foundation of the kind-hearted, hardworking woman she would become.
Erica’s greatest joy and most cherished role was that of a mother. Her journey into motherhood began in 2007 with the birth of her eldest daughter, Natalie, a moment that would forever change her life. In 2017, Erica met Charly Valdez and they married on December 16, 2017. In 2018 and 2024, Erica welcomed two more beautiful daughters, Charlee and Scarlett, who were the center of her world. She was an incredibly devoted mother, fercely protective and loving, always encouraging her daughters to chase their dreams and be true to themselves. The love she gave to her girls was boundless and unwavering, and it is a love they will carry with them forever.
Outside of her role as a mother, Erica was a proud and hardworking member of the Madix team in Terrell, where she worked in the payroll department. But no matter how busy life got, Erica always made time for her family. A homebody at heart, she found joy in the quiet moments spent with those she loved. Yet, she was also the life of the party—her infectious laughter, love for dancing, and positive energy made her the heart of every gathering. Whether enjoying music, sharing stories, or creating memories, Erica’s presence was always felt, and her light will never be forgotten.
Erica was welcomed into Heaven by her grandparents, Catalina Casarez, Luis Lopez Campos, and Luz Quinonez Fernandez, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished forever. Her parents, Gregorio and Maria Leticia Lopez; her husband, Charly Valdez; and her beloved daughters, Natalie Alcala, Charlee Valdez, and Scarlett Valdez, will carry her memory in their hearts every day. Her siblings, Susana Marin and her husband Emiliano, Luis Alberto Lopez and his wife Ashley, and Karina Escobedo and her husband Fabian, along with her grandfather, Juan Ignacio Avila Sr., will forever hold her close, . Along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew’s, cousins and friends. Erica’s love, kindness, and spirit will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Erica Lopez was truly one of a kind her strength, love, and warmth made the world a better place. While her physical presence may no longer be with us, her impact will never fade. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful woman, a devoted mother, and a loving soul whose light will continue to shine through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
