Donna Kay Grant

Donna Kay Grant was born March 20, 1960 in Henderson, Texas and passed away on May 26, 2021. She is survived by her five children: Bill and Vicky Grant of Streator, IL, Cary Grant of Rowlett, TX, Jacqueline and Clint Henderson of Katy, TX, Crystal Coon of Balch Springs TX, son-in-law Arnie Coon of Drury, Missouri and Savannah and Kevin Molock of Crandall, TX; her two sisters Cindy and husband Manuel Salinas and Janie and husband Gregg Shuman and her brother Joseph Pirtle; Eleven grandchildren: Natalie, Rachel, Jacob, Zachary, Ryan, Montgomery, Memphis, Karleigh, Joshua, William and Everleigh; her four great grandchildren: Lathan, Carson, Michael and Gentry and many nieces and nephews that loved her so much. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Edwin Gerald Grant, Jr., her parents Donald R. Pirtle and Faye Jeanette Pirtle, sister Faynette Pirtle and a granddaughter Brittany Nicole.

Donna was the definition of an amazing mother, devoted wife and grandmother. Her kids were her life and then when it came time for her to have grandchildren they became her life. She spent many years working to help provide for her family and then was blessed enough to become a homemaker where she could care for her kids, take care of things around the house and then when the time came she even cared for her grandkids. Her grandchildren know her as “Nanny” and she would always say “tell my babies I love them”. She was truly the best Nanny and she loved each of her grandbabies so much. She had a love for decorating her house and cooking and if you were blessed enough to have her make you a meal you knew it was made with love. She was always the first in the kitchen and the last to eat making sure everyone had enough before she sat. She spent countless hours at holidays making sure every part of the meal was perfect for her family. She was an avid member of the women’s auxiliary at the American Legion post 507 where she spent a lot of her time. Donna had a love for singing and always sang to her kids when they were growing up. It was often you would find her on a Friday or Saturday night hanging with her friends at the post and singing karaoke. Donna had a voice that most loved and couldn’t wait to hear her on that microphone. Donna had a heart of gold and she was a giver and would gladly give her last dollar if she thought someone else needed it more. She was known for her bright smile, big heart and amazing ability to make people laugh. She truly was the person that would light up the room with her warm smile and unforgettable laugh. She will be missed by her family and friends so very much.
