Betty Jean Waits

Betty Jean Johnson Waits, age 90, entered into rest on February 26, 2024 in Carrollton, Texas. She entered into life on June 21, 1933 in Ben Wheeler, Texas, to Floyd Johnson and Linnie Wright Johnson. Betty was raised in Grand Saline, Texas, and graduated from Grand Saline High School in 1950. She married Gilbert L.Waits and the couple had two children. She worked as a secretary at IRAM Investments for several years.

In her spare time Betty enjoyed crocheting and was the leader of the crochet club at First Baptist of Seagoville. She was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan. Betty also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Her family and friends will always remember her as our "Beloved Betty." Betty had a heart full of love. She "gathered up" those around her to love, and those around her felt the full force of that love.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Waits; and her parents, Floyd Johnson and Linnie Wright Johnson.

Betty is survived by her sister, Celeste McCown, of Arlington, Texas; her daughter, Kathy Waits, of Balch Springs, Texas; her son, Rod Waits, of Dallas, Texas; son-in-law, Mark Sharp, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Misty Roton, Brandi Treece, Dusty Wood, and Brent Waits; 12 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
