Benny grew up in Bowie, Texas as the youngest of 8 children. In High School, he was a star basketball player. After graduating Benny moved to El Paso where he carried his athletic skills to play for the University of El Paso. Benny also served two years in the Army National Guard while attending UTEP. After college, he moved to Dallas and became an Engineer at Texas Instruments. He also met the love of his life, Mary Simmons after moving to Dallas. They married on July 8, 1972 and had 49 amazing years together. After working 40 years, Benny retired at the age of 62.
