Arnold Kenneth Smith, of Forney, TX, passed away on August 22, 2021. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather (Guy), great grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He was born on March 26, 1924 in Vernon, TX to Robert Lee Smith and Susie Helen Walker Smith.
A. K. was married to his wife, Wanda B Smith for 66 years. They met in Crowell high school where they both attended, fell in love, and married December 19, 1942. Later, he entered the Army on May 25, 1943. He was transferred to the Army Air Corps shortly afterwards. Following his honorable discharge on February 25, 1946, he moved his family to Waco, TX where he obtained his pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying until his career, as a Greyhound bus driver, took him and his family to Dallas, TX. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, woodwork, and oil painting. He retired from Greyhound as a Union official in 1988. He and Wanda moved to Cedar Creek Lake following his retirement. There they attended Harbor Baptist Church, where they remained members until their passing.
Those left to cherish his memories are his 3 children: Arnold K. Smith, Jr. and wife Kyenae of Gig Harbor, WA, Michael Smith and wife Edna of Forney, TX, and Gwenda Floyd and husband Columbus Floyd, M.D. of Forney, TX; 6 grandchildren: Ben Bradshaw and wife Kristin, Jennifer Welch and husband Josh, Tamra Townsend and husband Lloyd, Jessica Chappelle and husband Craig, Alison Floyd, and Matthew Floyd; 13 great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Holly (Anthony), Benjamin, Jr. (Maddison), Maxton, Noah, Hailey, Zachary, Jacob, Presley, Ainsley, Maddison, Morgan, and Wyatt; 2 great-great grandchildren: Kadence and Bryar; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother R. L. Smith, and sister Mary Collins.
On September 1, 2021 the visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM and the funeral from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor George Yarger with Harbor Baptist Church will be officiating. The Interment will follow at 1:15 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, with prayer provided by Reverend Angela Stone-Campbell at the brief committal service.
