Anne Elizabeth (Lander) Sexton was born on December 15, 1932 to Alden and Mary Jane Lander in Leavenworth, Ks. She attended school in Leavenworth, graduated from Immaculata HS, and attended the College of St. Mary for two years. Anne was deeply religious and welcomed the opportunity to share her faith. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church for over 47 years. Anne was kind person, a veracious reader, championed “Reading for Kids,” and taught Catechism classes in four states.
While working as a telephone operator, she met the love of her life. Anne married Sidney M. Sexton Jr. (USMC) son of Sidney and Margaret Sexton, on September 20, 1952. The couple traveled the US together, moving from one military base to another until 1956 when Sidney’s Marine enlistment was completed. The couple settled back in Leavenworth until they were transferred to Springfield, Mo with the US Prison Service. This began the odyssey leading them back to Leavenworth (5 years) and on to California, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and to Texas.
Anne is survived by children Sidney M. Sexton III (Harriet), Jane E. Godfrey (Donald), Frances A. Rahm (Bryan), David A. Sexton (Donna-Maria), and Stephen C. Sexton (Julie). The couple have been blessed with 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Anne will be fondly remembered by her brother Jon Lander (Judy), Brothers/ Sisters in law, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Anne Sexton died peacefully at home in Seagoville, Tx on April 13, 2020. Due to Pandemic protocol, a grave site service will be held at the National Cemetery in Dallas for immediate family members only. The viewing is open to all friends and family as directed by Funeral home staff. You will be directed to stay in your car until escorted to the viewing.
