Alvin Howard Moore

Alvin was the second son born to Stanford Moore and Dora Garrett Moore. He was born in Decatur, Texas on January 14, 1922. The Moore family moved to Navarro County in 1929. Alvin attended Bryan High School until his sophomore year, then attended Blooming Grove High School where he graduated. He was very active in sports and made many friends. He joined the Air Force in 1942 where he served as an Air Force mechanic. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and later discharged in 1946. He continued to work on aircraft in Dallas, Texas and became a certified aircraft inspector. He met the love of his life, Patsy Surratt and they married on July 19, 1947 and had 68 wonderful years together. Alvin was born into a family of 10 children. He is the 5th one to pass from this life. Sidney, James, Iva Mae and Alma Fay have preceded him in death. He has 5 surviving siblings, Lewis Edward (Bud) Moore, Mary Joyce Ferrell, Margaret Jenkins, Frances Whitener, and Mollie Southard. He is survived by his lovely wife, Patsy Moore and two children, Brenda Thompson and Jimmy Moore. He also has two grandsons, Craig Thompson and Gregory Thompson, three great grandsons, Justin, Jordan and Jared Thompson, and two great granddaughters, Amber Grace Thompson and Ashlyn Faith Thompson. Mr. Moore was a devout Christian and family man and attended Seagoville Church of Christ.
