Susan Kaplan Murphy

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 5th, 1947.

Susan graduated from the University of Maryland and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Susan taught elementary school.

She was married to Brian Murphy on October 1st, 1983 in Marietta, Georgia at Faith Lutheran Church.

Susan and her “hubby” were married for almost 40 years. After getting married in Georgia, Susan and Brian relocated to Arizona in 1984 where they were founding members of Atonement Lutheran Church, and they would eventually open Sunrise Chiropractic in Sun City. Susan was the Office Manager of the clinic, and when Brian went to seminary years later, she cherished her role as a Pastor's wife.

Susan was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and had a passion for the Lord and her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Murphy, and her three children: Brian Gramling, Kristin Bushnell, and David Thompson.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Audrey and Jacob Schwartz, her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Kaplan, as well as her nieces, Karen Sharkey and Katie Grams.

A funeral service for Susan will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3110 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
