Steven Jay Carlson, age 52, passed away suddenly from heart failure on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. He was born on January 5, 1957 in Mason City, Iowa. Steve graduated in 1975 from Mason City High School and in 1979 from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. After getting married, Steve and Rosanne moved to the Phoenix area in 1982 and he began his career in the Home Building Industry, most recently with Anozira Door Systems. Steve loved to volunteer his time coaching Little League baseball with his sons; participating as a member of the Aztec Homerun Club and Touchdown Club at Corona High School, Tempe where his boys attend school. He never missed any of their sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosanne (Marreel) Carlson of 28 years (a teacher at Porter Elementary School, Mesa) and his two sons; Christopher, 17 and Patrick, 14. Steve is also survived by his mother, Alice Carlson and one sister, Connie Adams (husband Doug) and nieces, Allison and Emily Adams all of Des Moines, Iowa. Steve is preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) Carlson; brother; Robert A. Carlson and father-in-law, Enri Marreel. Steve will be dearly missed. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Road Scottsdale, AZ at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Food Bank of Phoenix in memory of Steve.
