So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing a number of years later. We lost touch mutually relocating for careers and raising children. Steve & I played basketball against one another in high school & saw a good bit of one another until our late 20’s. He was a gifted athlete but too nice to excel at football. But he excelled at never meeting a stranger, being genuine, and caring for his family & friends. Just a wonderful fella whose word was his bond. My heart goes out to his daughters and Judith. Rest in peace big fella. We miss you
and cherish having known you.

Steve was truly a great man-an angel most who knew him would say.  He was always warm, friendly, sweet, caring, always took the time to say hello and give a great hug!  Judy and Steve were/are the perfect couple - laughing, accepting and always BEST friends! Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew him and we know we still have him with us through Judy!  Thank you for all the warm memories!

Steve  will be sorely missed. I was blessed to have a long business relationship and friendship with Steve. He was a pleasure to work with and had a great sense of humor which we all need when you work in the field of property management.

I never had the pleasure of working with this fine man; however, I have met him on several occasions. I am truly sorry for the loss to Judy and her children. I know that God is lucky to have him above.

The loss of Steve Peters is indescribable. A man of great stature inside and out. Steve had a way of bringing the amazing out of you. Steve had a way of making you feel you could accomplish anything. The leadership, support, humor, the gentle giant way. Steve is so missed and is irreplaceable. Rest in Paradise Steve. You're in the arms of our Lord and that brings so much comfort to us. Miss you.

It is rare, very rare indeed, for a boss to never have somebody angry at him. Yet, in my two years at Shelton-Cook, I never heard one bad word. Steve believed in me long, long before I believed in myself and my team at Parkside often had long conversations about how awesome he was. We would get so excited when he came to visit! During his property visits, he would always start with what you were doing right before ever approaching areas of improvement. You wanted to work hard for him and make him proud because you knew he appreciated you. It's no exaggeration to say that I know very few people who could match his kindness, leadership and heart. To those who knew him better than I did, you are lucky souls. I pray for his family at this time, and know that he is etched into the hearts of far more people than we can count. God Bless you Steve.

I have only known Steve for a few years but he was an incredible person and one of the nicest human beings I have ever met. Was always extremely genuine and I enjoyed visiting with him in his office when I would stop by. I will miss you Steve. God Bless

My heart is truly broken, and those pieces go out to his family. Steve, to me, was so much more than just a boss. A few of the other managers and myself had a running joke saying that we just wanted to be part of his family. :) He always made everyone see the best in themselves. That included me. He was my anchor to our company and the very reason why I turned down any/all other job offers that came my way. He always made tough times easier, and victories sweeter. He made sure to always check in on your work life, and made sure to ask about the personal. He was one of the first people I told about my pregnancy, and the first to congratulate me when she was born. 

He was one of the few truly genuine and Kind people that I have had the honor and privilege of knowing. I can honestly say that I was truly blessed to have had him cross my path in life. Love and prayers go out to all that knew him and were touched by this wonderful man. May this gentle giant rest in paradise.

I am sad to hear of Steve Peters passing away.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends. 

I was sad to hear the news on Steve Peters passing. He was and always will be an influential person that encouraged and helped others. My heart breaks for his family and friends. He will truly be missed. Please know my prayers are with your family during this difficult time. I guess God needed this tall angel in heaven!

Never was there a kinder man. A gentleman who wanted the best for everyone. He will be missed by all, but also looking over everyone he knows with a smile.

Steve was a real gift at a time that work stress had me questioning confidence in myself. It's easy to feel devalued and unimportant as a lowly leasing consultant, especially when angry residents were a normal feature of the property and the job. When people yell that you are terrible for various reasons, it's easy to start believing them. But Steve became a needed antidote and a cheerleader for our team. I remember how he never left the office without asking me how I was and giving me his signature fist bump (which always made us chuckle, as it seemed so unusual for someone his age). He had a warm and comforting presence, all the stronger for his height. 

However, his biggest affect on me was when I got an email from corporate that he had secretly nominated me for "Leaser of the Year." Words cannot express how stunned I was. During a following phone call from Steve, I think my head grew 10x larger! I'll never forget this line: "I want to make sure you understand what's most important. Getting nomimated by your team is the cake, making it to finals is the icing, winning is the cherry on top. No matter what happens, you still have a cake." 

Throughout the years since, when I've doubted myself, I think about his kind words, gentle demeanor, and the unwavering confidence he had in me and my team, and it bolsters me up to take on more. When I find myself in any kind of managing roles, I think of him and try to follow his example of leadership and mentorship. It's always hard losing people you care about, but it comforts me knowing I have nothing but great memories of him to fall back on. While his time was cut too short, his legacy will always be larger than life.

Early in my career, I got a chance to work with Steve at AIMCO.  He was an amazing, patient and excellent mentor.  Later in my career, he joined us at Shelton Cook and again, he proved to me that his character was that of a true, great mentor.  Offering support (and fist bumps) to me in my 10 hour days, letting me know that if I ever needed assistance or had questions, that he was always available...and he always was.  He will be greatly missed.  I feel blessed to have known such an amazing person and to have been mentored by one of the greats in our industry.  Rest in Peace my friend and my condolences to your beautiful family.

I knew Steve for 27 years and worked together with him for about 7 at Balcor and Allegiance. He was tremendously gifted, extremely dedicated to his job and always kind to others. For a few weeks in the early '90's he called me Forrest (Gump) as I always packed a lunch to save money and took the bus to work (3 hours each day) when recovering from eye surgery). When I would come down the hall in the mornings he would say "Here comes Forrest!" I treasure our time together and will miss him.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful man.  For two years he has been a great person to work with.  He was smart, funny and kind.  I appreciated him and am going to miss our analytical conversations.   He always questioned.  I loved that.  God is having a great conversation with him.

My heart breaks for all who loved this wonderful man but especially for you my sweet sister.  I pray that God comforts you with His presence and gives you that peace that truly passes all understanding as His Word declares. You will always be in my prayers. I love you dearly!

My heart aches for Judy and the rest of the family. Steve was taken too soon from us, but I know he is now one of God's angels and will watch over his loved ones until they are reunited. Love and prayers to Steve and Judy and all those mourning his loss.

The Peters Family,
I miss our gentle giant as he no longer walks down the hall to heat up his can of soup.  There are few in my career that I consider my friend, and he was on the top of that short list.  In honor of him, I will keep this short, as he always would just pop in for a minute for my point of view and appreciated my short answer after a not so short explanation.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Judy, as well as Steve's entire family.  May the years of memories that you have with Steve and your loving relationship, help to comfort you during this terribly difficult time.  God bless you my friend.

When Steve entered the room it wasn't his stature that made everyone take notice, it was the ray of light that followed him into the room. I am sure he had to duck when he entered the pearly gates, as he had to duck just entering my office. In a business where most look at things in black and white, it was refreshing and comforting to know your boss viewed situations in shades of grey and always implemented that "golden rule". Life will go on without him, but the void of his charm and pleasant demeanor will be forever amiss. Years ago while starting a new job with Judy, she gave me some solid advice. "when things get bad and the day is long, step outside your office and look toward the mountains"......May the mountains forever be in your sight as you travel on without him. Peace be with you

I'm  so sorry for your lose. May the happy memories of your loved one give you comfort and the words of ( Romans 15: 33 ).

Steve was one of those rare people that everyone liked. I have never heard anyone say a negative thing about him. I worked with him for 10 years at AIMCO. He was a brother to me, Patti, Linda, Kelly and Lea Ann.
I will miss him always and am grateful I was blessed to know him.
I pray Judy and the girls will find their way by the grace of God. We all know how much Steve loved them.

Steve was such a kind, gentle soul.  Whenever I saw him, he gave such genuine hugs!  My heart hurts for Judi and his family.
