At the time of her passing she was residing at the Gifts of Grace group care home where the attentive staff had assisted her for several years as her health declined due to age related memory loss.
Shirley Anderson was born on August 1, 1941. Her parents, who both preceded her in death, were Otis Barnett Sr. and Patricia Barnett (nee Eldridge). Her family, which originally lived in Wisconsin, relocated to Tucson, Arizona where Shirley lived as a child and where she attended Amphitheater (Amphi) High School. Shirley lived in Phoenix, Arizona for most of her adult life.
Shirley Anderson was married to her husband, William Theodore "Ted" Anderson Sr., who preceded her in death. Together they were the parents of one child, their son, William Theodore "Ted" Anderson Jr. who also preceded her in death. Shirley worked in retail sales, including for J.C. Penney's Christown Mall jewelry department, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Shirley Anderson was raised by her parents, Otis Sr. and Patricia Barnett, whose large family included a total of ten children. She was the third youngest of the Barnett children. Her siblings, in order of birth, were: Betty Jane, Kathleen, Otis Jr., Carol, Rheta, Shirley Jean, Donna, Gary, and John "Jackie". All but one of Shirley's older siblings and her younger brother, Gary, preceded her in death. At the time of her death Shirley was survived by only one older sister, Donna Ridley Martin (nee Barnett) of Mesa, Arizona, who had faithfully arranged for Shirley's care after the passing of Shirley's husband and son.
The end of Shirley's life will be mourned by her surviving sister and the extended family including nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the management and staff of the Gifts of Grace group care home and AZ Superior Hospice Care who provided compassionate care to Shirley Anderson for many years and months respectively. The family owes a debt of gratitude to Kathy, who was Shirley's group home roommate, for giving her Christian friendship to Shirley and for being at her bedside at the time of her passing.
The final arrangements for the entombment of Shirley Anderson have been placed in the care of the Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery at 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. Shirley June Anderson will be laid to rest there, in the Serenity mausoleum, next to her son and near her parents and other deceased family members.
