Ruth Minard Jennings, 92, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born to Charles and Esther Nelson in Hayward, California and grew up in Salem, Oregon. She was the middle of 5 children.
In 1946, Ruth married R.E. Minard and they moved to Arizona in 1954. She was involved in numerous community activities, enjoyed boating, camping, traveling, and was artistically talented. She received a Masters Degree in Family Counseling from Arizona State University. After R.E. Minard passed in 1977, she married John E. Jennings in 1982. They loved competitive ballroom dancing and danced around the world. They were also involved in many community organizations and loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband R.E. Minard (1977) and husband John E. Jennings (2009). Survivors include son Steven E. Minard (Peggy), daughter Sandra Minard, stepdaughter Jan Jennings, stepsons John R. Jennings (Ricki Dee) and Jay Jennings; granddaughter Lisa Evans (John), grandsons Logan Thew, Scott Minard, Daniel Minard; step grandchildren Sarah Jennings, Erik Twist (Allison), Jonathan Twist (Kristen), Allison Jennings and Lauren Jennings; one great granddaughter Emma Evans; six step great grandsons Carter, Mason, Cooper, Eliot, Steven, and Henry Twist; two step great granddaughters Leesy and Lily Twist.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
