Ruth was born on July 30, 1929 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Ruth met Jack Hague at Kent State University in Kent Ohio and they married on December 27, 1953. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Red Oak, Iowa. Jack and Ruth had their one and only daughter, Susan in 1959. After growing tired of the cold winters, they moved to Phoenix in 1963. Ruth worked as a high school English teacher from 1963 to 1988 (most of this time at Camelback High School in Phoenix). Jack and Ruth were passionately involved, along with many others, in the formation and development of Copper Basin Bible Camp in Prescott, Arizona. Jack was an active board member for the camp for many years up till his passing in July 1999. Jack volunteered Ruth to cook during the summers at Copper Basin Bible Camp for its first 8 years of operation. Ruth was instrumental in founding Helping Hands, a fundraising organization for the camp. Ruth is a faithful member of the church of Christ from her baptism until now.
Ruth was predeceased by her father (Paul T. Bagby), mother (Jean English Bagby), brother (Robert Bagby) and sister (Doris Bagby Harlow). Ruth is survived by her daughter, Susan Hoggatt (husband Jim). Ruth’s grandchildren include Lindsay James (husband Reuben) and Darren Hoggatt (wife Heidi). Ruth’s great grandchildren include Jack James and Hugo James. Ruth has one nephew, Mark Harlow, one niece, Karen Griffith, and many cousins in the Kentucky/Ohio area.
The memorial service will be held at Camelback Church of Christ, 5225 E. Camelback Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018 on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 9am. The phone number for the Camelback Church of Christ office is 602-840-2661.
