Bob Hanna went to be with the Lord and brothers, Ray, and Ted; his friends, Bruce Colegrove and Rick Fellce; and his sister Ann Jackson on Thursday, April 27, 2017 after a brief illness.
Bob is survived by his wife Vinnie, of 47 years and his adopted family Gil Montanez (Lisa); 2 grandchildren Stephanie and James; his 2 sisters, Mamie Thaden and Mary Sisnois; 3 nephews, Frankie Rangel, Ken Rangel and Damien Shaw; 2 nieces, Margie Griess and Linda Bonson; 2 grandnephews, 5 grandnieces, several great grand nieces and nephews.
Bob began his law enforcement career in Greenville, Texas after his service in the U.S. Army and was later hired on with the Tempe Police Department where he spent 31 years of dedicated service. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was instrumental in training many recruits from the Academy. He was the original swat team commander and the departments’ first bomb technician. He served in the Detective Bureau on many occasions, but his skill developing young recruits kept him working in field operations.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 with a Funeral Mass at St. Anne’s’ Catholic Church in Gilbert, AZ at 10 am and Burial at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ following the Mass.
