J Richard Perry, beloved husband of Carolyn (Cooper) Perry, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed into the Lord’s hands April 24, 2011 in Chandler, AZ, he was 69. Richard was born July 24, 1941 in South Bend IN, the son of Owen and Florence Perry. Richard grew up in the rural Illinois community of Harvard, just West of Chicago. Richard was the president of his graduating class at Harvard High School in 1959 and played the tuba in the Hornet Band. Richard attended Bradley University, was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and was commissioned as a regular United States Air Force officer upon graduation. Richard was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1974 following station duty at Travis AFB, Azores Island AFB and Scott Field near St. Louis. Following Richard’s Air Force career, his family resided in Virden and Springfield, IL from 1970 to 1979. Richard completed his Master’s of Business Administration at the University of Illinois in 1976 and was an evening professor at Sangamon State University in Springfield and worked in information management systems with Franklin Life and the State. Richard’s career took him to Phoenix, AZ and then Manhattan, NY in 1979 as the Director of SE Marketing for American Express. Richard returned to Arizona in 1981 where he finished his career as the General Manager of Lear Data in 2005. Richard was an avid classic car collector, enjoyed NASCAR racing, camping with his wife Carolyn and sharing time with his children and grandchildren. Richard is survived by his wife, Carolyn, sister, Carolyn Haverly, son, Jeff Perry (Lori), daughter. Lonette Kissel (Chris), stepdaughters Julie Dunn (John), Debbie Quihuis (Mike), grandsons, Nicholas, Wyatt, Ben, Mathew, Owen, Michael and Jonathon; granddaughters Aubrey, Janae, Jennifer and Jordan; great-grandchildren Jaden and Iliana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Green Acres Mortuary, and Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N.
