Mildred B. (Murphy) Ziegler, 94, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021 with her daughter Diane at her side. Known as "Bernie" to family and friends, she was born April 2, 1927 in Pike County, IL. Bernie also lived in Kansas City, MO and Independence, MO prior to retiring to Scottsdale, AZ. She married Hugh R. Murphy on March 19, 1949. Hugh then passed in 2002. Bernie married Frank Ziegler in 2004, he proceeded her in death in 2010. Bernie was a homemaker and then worked at Sears in the collections department in Kansas City, MO. Bernie was a Vaile Mansion Society member in Independence, MO where she assisted on tours.
She is predeceased by her parents Fred and Ethel (McDannald) Grote, Norma Emmert (sister), Gerald Grote (brother), and sons Mitch and Daniel Murphy. Bernie is survived by Dale Grote (brother), John H. Murphy (son), Diane Freeman (daughter), Guy Ziegler (step-son), grandchildren Kiel and Carla Murphy and Allison Freeman, and great grandchildren Matthias and James Freeman.
In lieu of flowers send donations to Bethany Lutheran Church (4300 N 82nd St. Scottsdale, AZ 85251). Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
