Michael Jeremy Chacon

Michael J. Chacon, age 30, of Tempe Arizona, passed away on August 7th, 2021. He was a native Arizonan from a long line of native Arizonans – his family settled in Arizona before it even became a state, a fact of which he was very proud.

He was born on April 5, 1991. After attending Cactus High School, Michael graduated from Arizona State University with three bachelor’s degrees in 2013, then decided to come back for more. He graduated with his master’s degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 2017, then promptly was accepted to begin his PhD at ASU in Political Science.

While Michael met Veronica, his future wife, in college, they did not get married until May 19th, 2019. A year later, almost to the day, Madeline May Chacon was born to the couple. Taking on the nickname “Dadeline”, he and Madeline were best friends from the moment she arrived. Michael said he had no greater joy in his life than cooking for Maddie and seeing how much she loved his food.

Michael was an avid sports fan. There was almost no sport Michael did not watch or play. When he wasn’t organizing woodbat baseball teams with his friends, he was working on improving his golf handicap. While Michael had many achievements, personally and professionally, one of his proudest “trivia” achievements was that he won a hot wing eating contest and got to throw out the first pitch at a Diamondbacks baseball game.

Michael is survived by his wife, Veronica, his daughter, Madeline, father Art, mother Connie, step-father Martin, step-siblings Adam and Megan, and brothers Anthony, and Nick.
