Margaret Ann Crouch Harville, passed away on October 2, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona at home; in which she lived since October 1, 1952. She was born February 1, 1933 to Amy Fulgum Crouch and Arthur Crouch in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She was the fifth child of nine (The middle child).
In 1937 Margaret moved to her Father’s farm, Belle Rive, in Southern Illinois. Her father died September 22, 1942, her mother then sold the farm and we moved to Dahlgren, Illinois; where she lived until 1946. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona on June 6, 1946. Margaret attended Creighton Grade School (1946 -1947), then on to North High School, where she graduated in May of 1951.
Margaret married Samuel Martin Harville Jr. on July 6, 1951 at the Church of Christ on 12th St north of Osborne Rd. To this union two children were born, son Howard Harville, May 17, 1952, deceased January 4, 2013, and daughter Katherine Harville Randall, November 23, 1953. Sam and Margaret purchased their home in October 1952 and she lived there until their passing. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Samuel, parents and 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is Survived by her daughter, 4 grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She worked at Cudahy Meat Packing Plant for 26 years, from 1955 until it closed in 1981. In 1982, she started working for Canteen Corporation in the Cafeteria at the Salt River location then transferred to the Air Research/Allied Signal as a cashier, where she retired after 12 years.
She started attending the Church of Christ in 1949 at 10th St and Portland. After the church broke up, Margaret then went on to Church of Christ at 9th Ave and Madison. She met her husband, Sam at the 10th St and Portland church at an event (Sam, at the time, was attending the 9th Ave and Madison Church of Christ). Margaret was baptized at the 9th Ave and Madison Church of Christ in February 1952 by Harry Pickup; Sam was already of member of this church. This church location was sold and was relocated to The Woman’s Club at 40th St and Indian School until a new church could be purchased. A new church was purchased in 1954 at 40th St and Monte Vista. Sam was a member of this church until his passing in April of 2011. Margaret was an active member of the Church of Christ, attending as much as her health permitted.
Her favorite book was the Bible, she had no favorite verses or sections as she loved it all. Margaret was always willing to help others as often as she could with donating food and money. She lived a good long life and had no regrets.
In honor of Margaret, at Green Acres Mortuary (401 N. Hayden Rd Scottsdale, Arizona 85257) a visitation will be held Thurs. October 8, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and funeral service on Fri. October 9, 2020 at 10:30 am followed by a luncheon reception. She will be placed with her beloved husband, Samuel at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
