Lydia was born on February 12, 1934 in Newton Kansas, to James and Rosie Coleman. She lived much of her life in Kansas but lived her later life in Gilbert, Arizona.
Lydia was one of thirteen children. She was known for her strong sense of family which she passed on to her children and grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. She raised five children mostly on her own. She was determined, stubborn, funny, bossy, and sometimes a real pain in the butt. But she was also the strongest woman we have ever known that loved her family with unwavering dedication.
Her intense love of animals has influenced her entire family and forged many animal advocates who will continue her legacy of compassion.
