Louis Conrad Gilroy, after a long illness, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2018. Lou was born in Annapolis, MD, on October 20, 1929. He grew up in the shadow of the U.S. Capital in Washington D.C. After Lou and Dagni were married, they moved to Virginia, and then in 2010 they moved to Fountain Hills, AZ. Lou retired from Verizon with 38 years of service. Prior to going to work for Verizon, he served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean conflict. Lou loved helping people. He was a member of the Lions Club serving as District Governor of 24-A of Virginia. He was a Life Member of Lions Club International and a Life Member of the Lions of Virginia. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Kentucky Colonel. He was past president of the Blue Ridge Council of the Telephone Pioneers. Lou is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Edward, Leonard, Beamer, and John. Lou is survived by his wife Dagni of 63 years; Son Leonard and his wife Arwynn, and four grandchildren, and god son John Bennett.
A visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Service will follow at 3:00 pm.
