Les was born on January 2, 1931 to Roy and Margaret Ferguson in a little rented farmhouse outside DeWitt, Iowa. He is survived by his wife Sondra, his sons Phil and Alan, daughters Rhea and Glendora, his younger siblings Bob and Marilyn, seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Derwood.
Les had a love of cars his whole life and every special occasion or place of residence was marked by what car he was driving or had wrecked! He prized his turquoise 1964 El Camino which he enjoyed restoring and cruising around the highways with a stick of Doublemint that if you were lucky enough he would split with you. Les was drafted into the Air Force in 1951 and became a radar specialist. This training propelled his career and eventually he ended up working as a Field Engineer for Motorola which led him all over the world. After retirement from Motorola, he settled back in Arizona in 1987 and continued to work for FEMA and the Arizona Division of Emergency Management until he was 80. He was a hard worker and enjoyed every aspect of it. He was active at St. Anne’s Parish and enjoyed giving back to the community as a 4th Degree knight though the Knights of Columbus.
He had many friends throughout the years and always enjoyed a good beer and better story. This has been passed down to all his children :) His smile and gentle demeanor will be missed.
