

Kiden Edward Sheppard (Shep) born in West Virginia on December 13, 1927 and passed away May 29, 2016 at the age of 88. Shep is survived by Charmae, his wife of 70 years; and resided in Gold Canyon, Arizona. He is also survived by his daughters, Tina (Roland) Kallstedt, Laura (Gary) Servis, and Ginger (Robert) Newell, and son Edward Sheppard; grandchildren, Kara Kallstedt, Eric Kallstedt, Clint Servis, Angela Samarripa, Kiden Sheppard Jr., Luke Sheppard, Dylan Morrison, and Julia Morrison; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Laura B. Sheppard and six brothers and sisters, all from Dayton, Ohio. Shep joined the Navy when he was 15 years old, and served with honor aboard the Light Cruiser USS Raleigh during World War II. Shep worked at Frigidaire and Standard Oil in Dayton, Ohio before moving his family to Phoenix in 1956. Shep retired from Phoenix St. Joseph’s Hospital as the laundry department manager in 1990, after working at the hospital for 30 years. Shep loved hunting and fishing; Dove hunting at the intersection of McDowell and Scottsdale Road his 1st year in Arizona, and fishing for the large catfish in the Colorado River with his grandsons. He also enjoyed playing Blackjack at the local casinos, playing poker and dominoes with family and friends, and he could tell a story like nobody else. If family or friends were in need of help, they could always count on Shep to be there. Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ on Friday June 3, 2016 with a visitation from 12-1 pm and a funeral service to follow at 1 pm.
