Kerstin Marieanne Fowler

Kerstin was born in Sweden on September 24, 1942, to Nils and Asta Olsson. Twenty-one years later, she embarked on a journey of a lifetime to America. Sponsored by relatives in Rockford, Illinois, Kerstin continued work as a dental hygienist. It was through her work that she was introduced to the Fowler family.

In 1967, Kerstin married the cowboy of her dreams, and they began their 56-year marriage in Arizona. She was a devoted wife and mother whose abilities complimented John in his professional and recreational pursuits.

In the 1980’s, as their children grew in independence, Kerstin founded the Rose of Sharon Ministries through which she counseled sexually abused women. In 1992, she became an ordained minister. This season of Kerstin’s life led her into the mission field taking trips to Africa as well as India.

Although Kerstin retired from counseling, her involvement in the mission field remained constant throughout the remainder of her years. In retirement, she enjoyed numerous trips with family and friends. Kerstin’s sage counsel, encouragement, and kindness will be greatly missed but remain evident in those who were privileged to know her.

Kerstin is predeceased by her parents Nils and Asta and her sister Britta (Stig), as well as, Brother-in-law Ivan. She is survived by her husband John, her children Erick, Julie (Steve) adopted son Roberts (Leah), and her siblings Margaretta and Ulla, along with 8 grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 11th at 10:30 am in the main chapel of the Green Acres Mortuary followed by a luncheon in her honor.
