Karen Sue Cooper (nee, Osborn) was born was born June 9, 1944 in Cleveland, OH to Bob and Marjorie Osborn. She had three younger siblings, Laura, Bob and Merritt. The family moved to Phoenix when Karen was a mid teenager. After graduating from high school, Karen went to AZ State University. She worked at Sears and then began a career as manager of a claims department at Prudential Insurance from which she retired. Karen was married to Doug Cooper Nov. 17 1963 and the two of them had two children, Michael L and Lori Ann. On Nov. 28,2015 she was married to George, who was her life partner until her death. Karen and George spent their summers in Dolores, CO., and winters in Peoria. She was a long time attendee at Desert Breeze Community Church in Phoenix and a member of the Montelores Baptist Church of Dolores. Karen was an avid traveler by auto, cruise ship and on tours going to many destinations including Europe. After marriage to George they went to many places in the USA from NC and WI to HI and AK and to Iceland before the pandemic and disease squelched travel.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Marjorie, and brother Merritt. She is survived by husband George, son Mike (Karen) of Henderson NV, daughter Lori of Phoenix, sister Laura (Jim) of Loveland CO, brother Bob (Cathy) of Stevenson WA, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers if you wish to make a memorial contribution the family asks that you contribute to Hospice of the Valley.
A Memorial Service for Karen will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Desert Breeze Community Church, 17600 N Black Cyn Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85053.
