Former Syracuse, New York resident Joe Sacco, (97yrs.)passed away February 15, 2016 in Scottsdale Arizona with his family by his side.
Joe, was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Syracuse New York to Frank and Thresa Sacco of Carbon Street, Syracuse, New York.
Joe entered the Civilian Conservation Corps. “CCC” in 1937 when he was eighteen years old. Shortly afterwards he enlisted in the United States Army in 1941 where he spent the next 6yrs. In Military Service. He was in Europe during WWII, as a Staff Sargent and served with the 3rd and 7th American Armies in France and England.
When he returned home he spent most of his career working for General Electric, 37yrs. On weekends Joe and Mary owned the Glen Iris Cottages in Inlet, (Adirondack Mountains) New York as Co-Owners for 20yrs.
Joes’s favorite saying was “Don’t Worry about it” because he always got the job done. Joe could accomplish anything.
He is pre-deceased by his brothers, Alfred Sacco, Anthony Sacco, Louie Sacco,Frank Sacco and his sister Helen Russo.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66yrs., Mary E. Morga Sacco, Daughter Patti Sacco, His son Joseph F. Sacco Jr.(Rachel) and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, and Julia.
A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Joe’s life will be on Friday Feb. 19, 2016 at St. Maria Goretti Church, Address: 6261 N Granite Reef Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. Public Viewing will be at the Church from 10:00am-10:45am. Mass to follow. Following the Mass a Burial Service and reception will be held at Green Acres Mortuary.
