Jean Joan (Jelinek) Thompson, born July 11, 1921, passed away November 28, 2012. She was born in Crete, Nebraska, and came to Phoenix with her father in 1941. Joan and her husband, H. Ray Thompson who passed away in 2001, owned and operated Tru-Auto Parts for 39 years. She was a member of Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, and Eastern Star. Her whole life revolved around her family; family meant everything to her. She is survived by her son, Hal; daughter, Jean Bann (Norman); a special son, Arthur Truter (Chris); grandson, Patrick Bann (Carla); granddaughters, Jennifer Bann, Cathi Hunt (Kirk Stevens), Traci King (Rod); great-grandsons, Trey Rowe, Eric Bann, Connor King; three great-granddaughters, Christina Bann, Kendall Stevens, and Kayla King; and one nephew, Norman Weber. Not to be forgotten are the numerous “children” and “grandchildren” she adopted in her heart; she loved being called Grandma by all of them. Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257, on Monday, December 3, 2012, at 2:00 pm, with a visitation from 1:00–2:00 pm.
