Jack Milton Garrett was born in Greenville, SC on 12/3/1934. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on February 13, 2024 in Scottsdale, AZ at the age of 89 in his home surrounded by his family.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife Kaye Garrett, brother Bobby Garrett and children Scott Garrett and Sheri Young, step-children Nancy St. Amand, Donna Markwell, Jeff Fruh and Michael Fruh, grandchildren Kelcey Krebs, Kayle Krebs, CJ Krebs, Ashley Viscusi, Alex Garrett, step-grandchildren Erica Szczepkowski, Candice Berger, Chelsey Wyant, Joshua Markwell, Ana Fruh, Nikki Wise, Laylah Fruh and great-grandchildren Jase Montoya, Oaklie Krebs, Michael Viscusi III and step great-grandchildren Dylan Szczepkowski, Nathan Berger, Brayden Berger and Bentley Wyant.
Jack joined the U.S Navy in December 1951 and retired December 1979 as a Senior Chief Boatswains Mate. During his service Jack served on various ships during his tour or service. Stationed for 10 years in Naples, Italy, Jack served as a skipper of a 65 foot Chris Craft Yacht for the Commander in Chief of Southern Europe.
In 1967, Jack became a Shriner and later became President of the Naples, Italy Shrine Club. Upon his retirement from the Navy in San Diego, CA he moved to Scottsdale, AZ. Once in Arizona, Jack demitted from AAHMES Temple and joined El Zaribah. From 1979 to present, Jack has the distinct honor to have joined many groups within the El Zaribah Shrine Temple. Jack's most prestigious honor was being elected the Potentate in 1994 and having the honor of holding the office of the Temple Recorder from 2011 until his passing.

1967 - He became a Shriner in Naples, Italy (AAHMES Temple California)
1969 - Became President Naples, Italy Shrine Club
1970 - Started the first Scottish Rite Degree Team in Naples, Italy instead of having to go to Germany to receive the Degrees
1971 - Started the first Shrine Ceremonial to be held in Naples, Italy instead of going to Germany
1972 - Started the first All Star Military Football game to be held in Naples, Italy to raise money for the Shrine Hospital
1974 - Became Master of Harry S. Truman Lodge #649 in Naples, Italy
1975 - Was presented at the Grand Lodge in Rome, Italy. The highest award The Grand Lodge of Rome, Italy can present (he Giordano Bruno Medal)
1977 - Received the 32 KCCH Degree (Red Cap) from Scottish Rite Bodies in San Francisco, CA
1978 - Retired from the U.S Navy
1979 - Demitted from AAHMES Temple and joined El Zaribah
1980 - Joined the Patrol
1986 & 1987 - Captain of the Patrol
1990 - Elected to Oriental Guide
1990 - Started the first Vidala Onion sales for El Zaribah Temple
1991 - Started the Drum & Bugle Corp
1994 - Elected Potentate El Zaribah
1995 - Joined Roadrunners Unit
1996 - Circus Chairman 2002-2020
1998 & 2000 - Captain Roadrunners and Elected again 2006-2020
1999 - President Drum & Bugle Corp and again 2002-2020
2002-2020 - Housing Chairman
2011 - Elected Temple Recorder

Jack will be missed by his family as well as his second family, all the brother and families of the El Zaribah Shrine Temple.
A Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21st at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, February 22nd at El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium and Conference Center, 552 N. 40th St., Phoenix, AZ 85008 at 11:00 am.
Following the Memorial, a Graveside Service will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85257 at 2:30 pm.
